Fraumünster organ
From a Monastery Organ to a Grand Instrument
As early as the 15th century, the Fraumünster possessed a significant organ. It disappeared after the Reformation; it wasn’t until 1853 that the church once again acquired an instrument. The current main organ was installed in 1953. Since 1999, the choir organ has also been able to be played in conjunction with it via an electronic connection. As a result, the Fraumünster boasts exceptional sonic capabilities that can be experienced in all their glory during church services and concerts.

On October 4, 1953, to mark the dedication of the new Fraumünster organ, the famous French organist and composer Marcel Dupré performed some of his own works.
