Themed Tour
The Reformation in German-speaking Switzerland began at the Grossmünster. It was there that the reformer Huldrych Zwingli preached in German for the first time in 1519. Can you imagine what the church interior looked like before the iconoclasm? And did you know that the famous Froschauer Bible, Zwingli's translation of the Bible for the common people, is on display in the bible collection in the church gallery? The Zwingli door on the west side and the cloister of the former canons' monastery reveal further instructive details about Zurich's Reformation history.
